2017 THOMPSON ESTATE SSB
2017 Thompson Estate (SSB) Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Pale straw with a green tinge and brilliant clarity. A complex display of delicate but lifted citrus; lemon and lime aromas with a grassy, gooseberry edge. A suggestion of lush tropical and stone fruit with a hint of cinnamon spice adds extra depth and intricacy. The palate is clean, refreshing and bursting with flavour, sensationally reflecting the nose. Great balance, complexity and natural acid, these flavours flow through the pallet seamlessly and finish with great length and delicate persistence.
Both the Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc varieties were picked at optimum ripeness and fermented separately. Each variety had a few hours skin contact and a portion of the Sauvignon Blanc was barrel fermented to add further structure, dimension, and complexity to the wine. The wine is blended and bottled early in its life to further retain its freshness and varietal character.
